Hello! My name is Terellie but everyone calls me Teri. I am NOT a native English speaker and I am proud of that because my English is just as good as, if not better than, native English speakers. I am dedicated in helping you achieve the same kind of confidence and accuracy that I have with the English language even if we are not native speakers.
I have taught ESL (English as a Second Language) to people spanning all ages from preschoolers to retirees and everyone else in between teaching all sorts of topics from simple ABCs to conversational English to proof-reading formal papers. I was born in Taiwan, finished my studies in The Philippines, worked for a multi-national finance company, came back to Taiwan in 2011, has been teaching English since 2012, and I don’t plan on stopping.
教學風格 Teaching Style
I believe that people do not and WILL NOT EVER learn a foreign language effectively by memorization and by force. Based on my experience in all my years as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher, I have come to understand that the most effective way to learn English is to treat learning like going to the gym. YES! You read that right: Like going to the gym! When we go to the gym, we do the exercises on our own and there is a fitness trainer that guides us.
In my sessions, you will mostly do the learning yourself and I will be there to guide you every step of the way. This way, we are sure that we are doing the right thing using the right methods. We will practice English together as opposed to only the teacher teaching and the student only listening. I also personalize my lessons to fit the student’s lifestyle so that the student will always find meaning and purpose as to why he/she wants to learn English and simply to make the language useful to the student.
